BACKGROUND:
The Community Based Transportation Plan

The Community Based Transportation Plan (CBTP or Plan) process is funded by the Metropolitan Transportation Commission and led by C/CAG. The purpose of the CBTP is to identify local transportation needs and gaps and improve mobility and safety for disproportionately impacted census tracts, known as "Equity Priority Communities," (formerly called "Communities of Concern") in Southeast San Mateo County.

DISCUSSION:
CBTP Update Process

The Plan was prepared by C/CAG through an inclusive, collaborative process involving residents of targeted communities, community-based organizations that provide services within these communities, local schools, transit operators, C/CAG, and MTC. The planning process involves significant community outreach to directly engage residents.

Outreach and engagement in the CBTP update included:
1. Oversight by an Advisory Group
2. Project web page
3. Project awareness campaign
4. Bilingual digital transportation survey
5. Meetings with city and community leadership
6. "Pop-up" outreach sessions at events in the study area
CBTP Contents

The key components of the Plan are locally identified transportation needs and strategies to address them. Once adopted, the Plan will allow these strategies to obtain priority for funding from state and regional sources, as well as being taken into consideration in the development of SamTrans' Short Range Transit Plan, which identifies planned...
