BACKGROUND:
On June 1, 2021, the County Executive Office (CEO) initiated the OAC to strengthen the organizational structure of the San Mateo County Arts Commission (Arts Commission) and work to promote and amplify arts and culture throughout the County. On August 2, 2022, the Board established the OAC to elevate the significance of arts and culture as a driver in enhancing the vibrancy of life, education, and economy in the County by promoting culture-related policies and programs. The OAC's mission is furthered through funding in the form of donations and grants.
