BACKGROUND:
In September of 2016, this Board approved and adopted the County's FEMA-approved, five-year, Multi-Jurisdictional Local Hazard Mitigation Plan (MJLHMP) that included participation from 18 cities and 10 special districts. The County is eligible for federal and state hazard mitigation grants, including this funding opportunity, as a result of approving this FEMA-approved MJLHMP.

DISCUSSION:
The FEMA HMGP funding will be utilized to hire a contractor to renew and secure a new, FEMA-approved, five-year MJLHMP for the County and all interested cities and special districts.

The FEMA-approved MJLHMP ensures the County and participating cities and special districts eligibility for project grants under FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Assistance programs, including the Hazard Mitigation Grant Program, Pre-Disaster Mitigation Program, and the Flood Mitigation Assistance Program.
