Adopt a resolution authorizing an agreement with Kenton Fong, MD to provide specialty plastic surgery services for the term of October 1, 2020 through September 30, 2022, to an amount not to exceed $650,000.

BACKGROUND:
On October 18, 2016, the Board approved an agreement with Kenton Fong, MD, to provide specialty plastic surgery services under the general direction of the Medical Director of Surgery at San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC). Dr. Fong has agreed to continue to provide these services.

DISCUSSION:
San Mateo County is responsible for providing necessary medical care to its medically indigent population. Dr. Fong will provide four-hour half day surgery blocks, as well as medical director, call, consult, and teaching services.

County Administrative Memorandum B-1 provides that contracts for physicians are exempt from the Request for Proposals process.

The resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County's fiscal obligation by maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).

The agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form.

It is anticipated that all plastic surgery services provided will adhere to the infection control standards as defined by the Joint Commission and Title XXII of the State of California, Code of Regulations to reduce the risk of infections 100% of the time.
