Subject: No Parking Zones on Capistrano Road in Half Moon Bay

Adopt a resolution authorizing the establishment of a no parking zone on Capistrano Road, just west of Cabrillo Highway, State Route No. 1, in Half Moon Bay.

BACKGROUND:
Section 22507 et.al. of the California Vehicle Code provides that local authorities may prohibit or restrict the stopping, parking, or standing of vehicles by resolution or ordinance.
Your Board has adopted similar resolutions and ordinances designating various traffic controls.
On June 28, 2005, the Board adopted Resolution 067421 regarding a no parking zone on Capistrano Rd in unincorporated Half Moon Bay. Additional no parking zones have been requested by the Coastside Fire Protection District along Capistrano Rd, to allow for improved access staging areas for firefighting.
Resolution 067421 states:
> Capistrano Road
On both sides of CAPISTRANO ROAD commencing at the southerly intersection of CABRILLO HIGHWAY, State Route No. 1, and extending to the intersection of PROSPECT WAY, a distance of 2,000 feet, more or less, excepting therefrom bays provided for parking and not posted as "No Parking".
The Department of Public Works recommends amending description as follows:
> Capistrano Road
On the easterly side of CAPISTRANO ROAD commencing at the intersection of CABRILLO HIGHWAY, State Route No. 1, and extending westerly to the westerly property line of 390 Capistrano Rd, for a distance of 1675 feet, more or less.
On the westerly side of CAPISTRANO ROAD commencing at the intersection of CABRILLO HIGHWAY, State Route No. 1, and extending westerly to a point across from the westerly property line of 390 Capistrano Rd, for a distance of 1590 feet, more or less.
