BACKGROUND:
Section 22507 of the California Vehicle Code and Section 7.28.010 of the San Mateo County Ordinance Code allow the Board of Supervisors to adopt resolutions that establish parking zones that prohibit or restrict the stopping, parking, or standing of vehicles. Resolution 68090, designating parking regulations and restrictions for loading zones, was adopted by your Board on June 20, 2006.

DISCUSSION:
The property owner at 2856 Middlefield Road has requested removal of a loading zone to provide additional parking for business patrons and to improve access. The freight loading zone identified for removal is on the southerly side of Middlefield Road, commencing at a point 152 feet westerly of the intersection of Dumbarton Avenue and extending westerly a distance of 17 feet, more or less. A map of the location is included on page 2 of Attachment A.

Removing the loading zone would provide two additional parking spaces for the North Fair Oak business community. Additional parking stalls created will be limited to 2-hour parking as established in Ordinance 03678, which was adopted by your Board on September 26, 1995.

Property owners within 300 feet of the proposed location were notified of this proposal and provided the date and time of your Board's meeting when this item would be considered. One favorable response was received and is included in Attachment A.
