BACKGROUND:
San Mateo County is responsible for providing necessary medical care to its medically indigent population. This care includes disorders of the kidney, urethral tract, and bladder, and the management and supervision of those services.

DISCUSSION:
Dr. David Martin has served as San Mateo Medical Center's (SMMC) Urology Medical Director since October 2012. He has agreed to continue as Medical Director, in addition to providing four half-day urology clinics per week and two half-day surgery blocks per week.

County Administrative Memorandum B-1 provides that contracts for physicians are exempt from the Request for Proposals process.

The resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County's fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).

The agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Counsel as to form.

The agreement contributes to the Shared Vision 2025 outcome of a Healthy Community by providing access to urology services to residents of San Mateo County. It is anticipated that 100% of all patients diagnosed with kidney stones will receive lithotripsy treatment within 24 hour of the diagnosis.
