BACKGROUND:
In January 2017, the Project Development Unit (PDU) was formed to oversee and manage ground-up construction performed by the County of San Mateo. Multiple large County capital projects are underway which will require intensified PDU operations for several years. PDU requires substantial support from specialized consultants, including project inspection service consultants, to appropriately manage these critical and complex projects. Project inspection service consultants provide services that include, inter alia, special inspection and materials testing.
DISCUSSION:
Following a Request for Proposals, the County selected CMI Contractors, Inc., Allana, Buick & Bers, Inc., Upper Hand Consulting, Inc., and Consolidated Engineering Laboratories (CEL) as a provider of project inspection services. On October 17, 2017, this Board authorized an agreement with CMI Contractors, Inc., Allana, Buick & Bers, Inc., Upper Hand Consulting, Inc., and CEL in an amount not to exceed $600,000 with an expiration date of October 16, 2020. The amendments will extend the term of each agreement for an additional two years.
The Resolution contains County standard provisions authorizing the PDU Director to approve amendments to the Agreements increasing the County's fiscal obligation by a maximum of $25,000 for each agreement.
