Brown Act in order to allow for local legislative bodies to conduct their meetings telephonically or by other electronic means. Pursuant to the Shelter-in-Place Order issued by the San Mateo County Health Officer on March 16, 2020, the statewide Shelter-in-Place Order issued by the Governor in Executive Order N-33-20 on March 19, 2020, and the CDC’s social distancing guidelines which discourage large public gatherings, the Board chambers will not be open to the public for the March 31, 2020 Special meeting of the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors. | | | | | Mr. Mike Callagy, County Manager announced the following website (https://www.smcgov.org/) for San Mateo County residents to view comprehensive information on COVID-19 and assistance with several resources such as: Education, Child Care, Homelessness, Employee Resources, Eviction, Food Panty, Utilities Assistance, Small Businesses, federal/state resources and other options.
Supervisor Don Horsley mentioned that the constituents in his district are concerned about layoffs, especially in the travel and hotel industry. In a future Board meeting, Supervisor Horsley would like to find out how Police and Fire personnel are safeguarding themselves against Coronavirus and also how the jail population is being protected.
Mr. Mike Callagy, County Manager announced that he will have Sheriff Carlos Bolanos provide an update to the Board at the next Board meeting on April 7, 2020.
