BACKGROUND:
In March 2021, this Board approved an agreement with Vance Brown Inc. for the Sheriff's Office Headquarters Center Project (Resolution No.078637). Services provided under the agreement include renovation of the Old Maguire Jail, originally built in 1988, and construction of a new fifth floor. The project will convert the entire facility into a Sheriff's Office Headquarters, which will house nearly all Sheriff's Office administrative staff.

The original agreement provided that the County would pay a contract base fee of $25,000,000 for the work to be performed by Contractor on the Renovation Project, as those terms are defined in the agreement. The agreement also stipulated that the County shall be responsible to pay for the cost of all renovation project work that is not covered by the contract base fee.

In August 2022, Amendment One to the agreement was approved (Resolution No. 078598) which increased the contract amount to cover costs for excluded items not covered by the contract base fee. In July 2023, Amendment Two to the agreement was approved (Resolution No. 079818) which further increased the contract amount to cover the cost of services not covered by the contract base fee.
