title

Recommendation for the appointment of Crystal Chaix to the Agricultural Advisory Committee, representing Farmer, for an initial partial term ending September 30, 2026.

body

BACKGROUND:

The Agricultural Advisory Committee actively assists in the preservation of agriculture throughout San Mateo County through advice and recommendations to the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors.

DISCUSSION:

Crystal Chaix is being recommended for an initial partial term for a Farmer/Grower seat formerly held by William Cook, who has vacated that seat.

Crystal Chaix grew up around livestock and agriculture, with experience working on her grandparents’ ranch, Sea Horse Ranch, as a child. Crystal moved to Half Moon Bay in 2000 and currently resides in San Gregorio with her partner where they run cows on about 900 acres between San Gregorio and Half Moon Bay, and farm about 50 acres of red oats and rye grass hays along Highway 84. In between tending to the cows and the hay, Crystal works at La Nebbia Winery as the winery manager and event planner, and enjoys volunteering at the Half Moon Bay I.D.E.S., spending time with friends and family, reading and hunting.

FISCAL IMPACT:

None.
