BACKGROUND:

The Navigation Center is a key component of the County’s plan to make interim or permanent housing available to every unsheltered person who chooses assistance. Located in Redwood City, the Navigation Center provides 240 non-congregate units with intensive support services. Half of the funds received pursuant to this grant agreement will be used by the Human Services Agency to support an onsite, hands-on job training program, and the other half of the funds will be used by County Health to support the onsite dental clinic to all residents of the Navigation Center and unsheltered residents in the surrounding area.

 

DISCUSSION:

This grant agreement will support the Navigation Center’s operations by contributing towards the job training and oral health services available to residents of the Navigation Center and other unsheltered residents in the surrounding area.

 

The grant agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by County Attorney as to form.

 

The resolution contains the County’s standard provisions allowing amendment of the County’s fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).

FISCAL IMPACT:

The term of the grant agreement is October 1, 2023 to January 31, 2025. HSA will receive the $270,000 funding and transfer $135,000 to County Health by journal entry. There is no Net County Cost associated with this grant agreement.
