BACKGROUND:

The Agricultural Advisory Committee actively assists in the preservation of agriculture throughout San Mateo County through advice and recommendations to the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors.

 

DISCUSSION:

Natalie Sare has served on the committee since her initial term began in 2019 and is being recommended for a second 4-year term effective October 1, 2022 through September 30, 2026.

 

Natalie Sare is a third-generation farmer and agricultural business owner on the San Mateo County Coastside. She owns and operates a Christmas Tree Farm with her husband in San Mateo County for the past 26 years. She is also a member of the California Christmas Tree Growers Association and National Christmas Tree Growers Association. As a child, Natalie grew up selling produce at her father Natalino Marchi’s roadside stand in Pescadero, as he was a row crop farmer his entire adult life, and was awarded Young Farmer of the year and Farmer of the year by San Mateo County. He was also one of the initial members of the Agricultural Advisory Committee. Natalie has raised livestock and has received multiple awards for state speech competitions about agricultural topics while a student in Future Farmers of American (FFA) and collegiately in California Fresh Fruit Association (CFFA). Natalie has recently been voted to serve as the chairperson of Agricultural Advisory Committee.
