Honor the San Mateo County Park Rangers as the Team of the Month for September 2023 and authorize the President of the Board to sign the commendation.

BACKGROUND:
The Team of the Month program was established in September 2018 to recognize and honor County teams who consistently demonstrate an outstanding level of performance.
Our Team of the Month for September 2023 is the San Mateo County Park Rangers.
DISCUSSION:
The Parks Department serves over 3 million visitors a year. In recent years, the number of visitors increased substantially. While this could be overwhelming at times, the San Mateo County Park Rangers always maintain a positive attitude and deliver excellent service to benefit the public they serve.
The Park Rangers are deserving of recognition for the way they steward public land and serve the public every day. They help build campsites in the redwood forest so families can make lifelong memories. They also maintain trails so residents have an opportunity to recognize the mental and physical health benefits of being outdoors, and answer questions so the public can truly appreciate the natural world around them.
Additionally, early this year, the Park Rangers helped respond to the winter storms by transporting supplies necessary to keep residents safe, opened roadways when obstructed by downed trees and debris, and protected public land from irreversible damage. The daily work they do, including their efforts and contributions is impressive.
Our County is fortunate to have the San Mateo County Park Rangers as an outstanding Team.
