BACKGROUND:

JobTrain has provided vocational training and educational programs to the San Mateo County incarcerated population for over a decade. Programs and services include but are not limited to the following: culinary arts; baking; hospitality; digital literacy; financial literacy; construction pre-apprenticeship; work readiness, career exploration and success coaching; cognitive behavioral intervention for substance abuse; and reentry coordination. JobTrain continues to be an integral part of the County’s efforts to reduce recidivism for justice-involved individuals who are in-custody.

DISCUSSION:

In Spring 2021, the San Mateo County Executive’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office issued a joint Request for Proposals (RFP) for programs and services for the County’s justice-involved population. JobTrain was selected to provide in-custody programs and services for San Mateo County’s justice-involved population. The agreement reflects the third and final year of contracted services under the RFP.
