BACKGROUND:
In 2014, San Mateo County launched SMC Public WiFi. The SMC Public WiFi system provides County sponsored internet services to support residents, support local economic development and enable greater access to County on-line services.
On February 2, 2022, the Information Services Department (ISD) released a Request for Proposals, RFP# ISD-20221854 for ongoing support and maintenance of the County's Public WiFi connectivity system. The County received one proposal in response to this RFP.

DISCUSSION:
The Information Services Department requests that your Board approve the recommendation for an agreement with Smartwave Technologies to provide support and maintenance of the SMC Public WiFi Controllers, reporting platform, wireless access points, and backhaul radios as well as provide modification services to the environment. This agreement will allow the County to maintain its commitment to support the availability of the SMC Public WiFi connectivity system to its residents.
The Resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County's fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).
The County Attorney's Office has reviewed and approved the agreement and Resolution as to both form and content.
