BACKGROUND:
The mission of the San Mateo County Commission on Aging (CoA) is to improve the quality of life for seniors in San Mateo County through the promotion of independence, self-sufficiency, mental and physical health, as well as community involvement.

DISCUSSION:
Marita Leth has served on the CoA as an Alternate since her partial term began in November 2017 and is being recommended to serve a second full term through June 30, 2026. Kathy Uhl has served as a regular member since her initial partial term began in August 2020 and is being recommended to serve a first full term through June 30, 2026.

Marita Leth resides on the Coast and is keenly aware of the needs of older adults living in this area of the County. She brings her experiences as a caregiver for her husband, an educator for youth especially those with special education needs, and her volunteer work with senior organizations and church committees to the Commission. She is instrumental in keeping the needs of the Coastal community in the forefront of work being done by the Commission.

Kathy Uhl currently lives in Burlingame and has resided in San Mateo County for over 50 years. She retired after a career as Executive Director of the Independent Living Resource Center in San Francisco and is looking forward to bringing her experiences as a non-profit director to help older adults and people with disabilities in the County she calls home.
