Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to the Agreement with Hill-Rom Company, Inc. for the San Mateo Medical Center Nurse Call Installation Project, increasing the not-to-exceed amount by $51,480, for a new not-to-exceed amount of $716,696.

BACKGROUND:
On April 20, 2021, this Board adopted Resolution No. 078142, authorizing an Agreement with Hill-Rom Company, Inc. (Hillrom) to upgrade and install the Nurse Call System (Project) at the San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC), from April 20, 2021, to December 1, 2022, for a not to exceed amount of $665,216.

As authorized by Resolution No. 078142, the Director of Public Works executed Amendment No. 1 on December 1, 2022 to extend the term through January 1, 2024 and Amendment No. 2 on April 18, 2023 to authorize additional work in the amount of $13,513.

DISCUSSION:
During the design phase of the Project, Hillrom produced construction design drawings to meet California Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) requirements. The construction design drawings were submitted to HCAI for review, and HCAI required revisions to the design.

Hillrom's construction design drawings for the Project were revised to address HCAI's comments resulting in additional construction costs. The Department of Public Works recommends the not-to-exceed amount of the agreement be increased by $51,480 for a new not-to-exceed amount of $716,696 to facilitate completing construction of the Project with the HCAI required modifications.

County Attorney has reviewed and approved the resolution and agreement as to form.

FISCAL IMPACT:
Funding for the increase to the Agreement not-to-exceed amount is included in ...
