BACKGROUND:

The Planning Commission serves the County and its communities by preparing, administering, and enforcing land use plans and development regulations that protect public safety, preserve agricultural and environmental resources, address housing and transportation needs, and create healthy and prosperous communities, in a manner that fosters community engagement and provides exceptional levels of service.  Pursuant to the San Mateo County Ordinance Code, a Commissioner shall be appointed to the Planning Commission from each of the County’s five supervisorial Districts.

DISCUSSION:

As per the bylaws for the Commission, commissioners serve for a term coinciding with the Supervisor’s term. Lisa Ketcham’s term will reflect a second four-year term from January 1, 2023 through December 31, 2026 upon approval of this appointment.

Lisa Ketcham has served on the Planning Commission since her appointment by Supervisor Don Horsley in 2018. She has been a coastside resident for over 20 years and is a former member of the San Mateo County Midcoast Community Council. She has been a long-time advocate for affordable housing and environmental protection and brings her keen analysis and perspective of her local community to decision making on the Planning Commission.
