Acting as the Governing Board of the Area Agency on Aging for the County of San Mateo, adopt a resolution authorizing:
A) The approval and submission of the FY 2023-24 Area Plan Update for Services for Older Adults and Adults with Disabilities to the California Department of Aging; and
B) The execution of the Transmittal Letter to the California Department of Aging required to complete the submission process.

BACKGROUND:
In 1992, Aging and Adult Services (AAS) convened a broad-based group of persons with disabilities, seniors, caregivers, and service providers to form the New Beginning Coalition (NBC). The purpose of the coalition was to improve the quality of life for San Mateo County's diverse population of older persons and adults with disabilities. The primary vehicle for achieving that goal was developing a long-range plan for a continuum of services that would be responsive to consumer needs and would acknowledge and incorporate the diversity in the County.
Since that time, the NBC - in coordination with the County's Commission on Aging (CoA) and the Commission on Disabilities (CoD) - has been implementing a comprehensive process for involving consumers and stakeholders in the development of each new Area Plan every four years. Stakeholders include key private, non-profit, and governmental agencies that provide services for older adults and adults with disabilities, consumers, and representatives from minority communities.
