BACKGROUND:
The Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) is implementing the California Advancing and Innovative Medi-Cal (CalAIM) initiative. CalAIM is designed as a long-term commitment to transform Medi-Cal, making the program more equitable, coordinated, and person-centered to help individuals maximize their health and life trajectory. CalAIM includes new benefits/services provided through Managed Care Plans for individuals requiring specialized care due to their complex needs. As part of this transformation, DHCS is providing funds to providers of Medi-Cal services to build capacity and infrastructure under the Capacity and Infrastructure Transition, Expansion, and Development initiative (CITED). This Board has previously approved two contracts between the Health Plan of San Mateo and County Health (HPSM) to provide similar services, specifically Enhanced Care Management (ECM) and Community Supports services.

DISCUSSION:
County Health intends to use these grant funds to build the capacity and infrastructure necessary to comply with CalAIM's regulatory and programmatic demands. Specifically, these funds will be used to (1) provide training, to strengthen the skills and ...
