RECOMMENDATION:
title
Measure K: Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to the agreement with Sonrisas Dental Health Inc. to provide dental health services, extending the term by 10 months through December 31, 2023, and increasing the amount by $98,000 to an amount not to exceed $246,220.

BACKGROUND:
San Mateo County Health was awarded a Healthcare for the Homeless/Farmworkers Health (HCF/FH) grant from the Bureau of Primary Health Care, Health Services and Resources Administration (HRSA) of the US Department of Health and Human Services. The HCH/FH grant funds San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC)'s ongoing HCH/FH program, which provides primary medical, dental, and behavioral health care to the County's homeless population.

In September 2021, Sonrisas Dental Health Inc. (Sonrisas) and SMMC entered into an agreement to provide dental health services to homeless and farmworker individuals in the County for the term of September 1, 2021 through April 30, 2022 in an amount not to exceed $65,000 as part of a HRSA grant. The agreement has been amended multiple times, most recently to extend the term through February 28, 2023, and increase amount to an amount not to exceed $148,220.

DISCUSSION:
On December 13, 2022, the Board approved the use of Measure K District discretionary funds to support ongoing services provided by Sonrisas for farmworkers and their families in the South Coast region through December 31, 2023. This amendment brings the agreement for the provision of those services in line with the Board's action and will enable Sonrisas to continue providing these much-needed dental services.
