body

BACKGROUND:

The OAC was established to help strengthen the organizational structure of the San Mateo County Arts Commission, the mission of which is to elevate the significance of arts and culture as a key driver in enhancing the quality and vibrancy of life, education, and economy in San Mateo County through coordination of art and culture-related policies and programs. This mission is furthered through funding in the form of donations and grants.

To that end, SVCF, as fiscal agent for CZI, has donated to OAC $75,000.00 on the condition that such donation be used to fund grants to local arts and culture nonprofits throughout San Mateo County.

DISCUSSION:

Pursuant to County Administrative Memorandum B-3, “[r]eceipt of each gift or bequest having a value of more than $2,500 or with significant conditions or stipulations shall be acknowledged in writing by the [County] department head and referred to the Board of Supervisors for acceptance or rejection.”  OAC recommends that the Board accept the above donation of $75,000.000 to be used for grants to local arts and culture nonprofits throughout San Mateo County.

OAC further recommends that the Board approve an ATR in the amount of $75,000.00 by transferring such amount to the OAC.

The County Attorney’s Office has reviewed and approved the resolution as to form.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of the ATR will recognize the revenue referenced above. There is no Net County Cost associated with this action.
