BACKGROUND:
The Team of the Month program was established in September 2018 to recognize and honor County teams who consistently demonstrate an outstanding level of performance.

Our Team of the Month for January 2023 is DPW Roads Team.

DISCUSSION:
This recognition is a testament to the exceptional efforts of the DPW Roads Team throughout recent storm events. The DPW Roads Team worked day and night to maintain access to coastal and bayside communities, cut and remove fallen trees from roadways, clear debris, improve drainage, and much more. The Team collaborated with our Parks Department to distribute more than 500 tons of bulk sand to County locations and local cities, communicated with our Department of Emergency Management to provide real-time updates to residents about road closures and re-openings, and coordinated with Public Works Facilities and Fleet to distribute generators and fuel to locations throughout the County.

It was impressive to listen to our DPW Roads Team on the radio, working around the clock to address storm damage throughout the County. The Team will continue working over the next few weeks to clear trees and debris from roadways, repair damaged roads and culverts, address slip outs, and ensure drainage systems are clear. We appreciate their outstanding efforts to maintain roadway access for our residents despite historic rainfall and flood conditions.
