Recommendation for reappointments to the San Mateo Health Commission, each for a first full term ending December 31, 2026:

 

A)                     Manuel Santamaria, representing Public Senior/Minority Community Member, and

 

B)                     Barbara Miao, representing Public At-Large member.

BACKGROUND:

The San Mateo Health Commission negotiates exclusive contracts with the California Department of Health Care Services to arrange for the provision of health care services to qualifying individuals.

 

DISCUSSION:

Manuel Santamaria and Barbara Miao each began serving on the commission for an initial partial term in June 2022 and June 2019, respectively, and are being recommended for a first full term.

 

Manuel Santamaria was appointed on June 14, 2022 for a partial term which ended on December 31, 2022.  He is currently the Vice-President of Community Action at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation.  Mr. Santamaria has been involved in supportive and collaborative roles working with many community-collaborative organizations for more than two decades. 

 

Barbara Miao was appointed to the San Mateo Health Commission on June 4, 2019 to fill a vacancy and complete a partial term which began on January 1, 2018.  Ms. Miao has a master’s in healthcare administration from University of San Francisco; has served as a financial director and CFO for non-profit Federal Qualified Health Center and provides consultation services to healthcare and non-profit businesses.
