A)                     Sue Datta, representing the Commission on the Status of Women, for an initial retroactive term effective January 1, 2022 through December 31, 2025; and

 

B)                     John Munsey, representing Police Chiefs and Sheriff Association, for an initial retroactive term effective January 1, 2021 through December 31, 2024; and

 

C)                     Sheriff Christina Corpus, Categorical member representing Sheriff; and

 

D)                     Karla Rodriguez, Categorical member representing the San Mateo County Office of Education.

BACKGROUND:

The San Mateo County Domestic Violence Council is responsible for establishing policies to reduce and prevent domestic violence and enhance victim’s services.

 

Members of the Domestic Violence Council evaluate, make recommendations and initiate activities regarding: current response of law enforcement, the judicial system, health care services and community resources; local government efforts to reduce domestic and family violence; public awareness and public education necessary to state and local laws; and the need for services for those who are victims of domestic and family violence.  The Council develops an annual work plan and submits an annual report to the Board of Supervisors.

 

DISCUSSION:

Sue Datta currently serves as a member on the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) and is being recommended to serve as the CSW representative to the Domestic Violence Council, formerly represented by Becky Abens of the CSW. John Munsey is serving as the Police Chiefs and Sheriff Association representative for a retroactive first full term. Sheriff Christina Corpus and Karla Rodriguez are designated as Categorical members representing Sheriff and San Mateo County Office of Education, respectively.

 

Sue Datta has over 20 years in technology and ecommerce and served as the Director for Technology and Cyber security for Gap, Inc. She currently is the Director of Technology Audit at Intuit. She brings extensive volunteer experience working with Girl Geeks and helping survivors of domestic violence.

 

John Munsey has 28 years of experience including eight years at the executive level in the position of Chief of Police for the Town of Colma, Assistant Sheriff of San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, and Chief of Police Services for the City of Half Moon Bay. He offers a well-rounded background with extensive training and experience in all areas of contemporary law enforcement including budget monitoring, grant administration, statistical analysis and large event security.

 

Karla Rodriguez has worked for the San Mateo County Office of Education for the past eight years. She is a facilitator and convener in equitable engagement and restorative justice for transformative social change.

 

Christina Corpus has worked for the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office for over 21 years and has recently been elected as Sheriff. She has extensive experience in the field of domestic violence, youth and families.
