BACKGROUND:
The County of San Mateo continues to prioritize the delivery of services through a lens of equity and inclusion through the Office of Racial and Social Justice housed in the County Executive's Office.

Further to this important objective, the County's Chief Equity Officer represents the County on the San Francisco Foundation's Equity At Work Council (EWC) which is part of their ReWork the Bay regional collaborative funder initiative. EWC members help drive EWC's programmatic strategy, generate policy and other systems change recommendations, and model deep collaboration. FY 2022-23 will be the second year of the County Chief Equity Officer's participation with the EWC. The San Francisco Foundation is providing the County with a grant of $40,000 in connection with the County Chief Equity Officer's two-year commitment to the EWC.

DISCUSSION:
The ReWork the Bay initiative focuses on increasing the number of people in quality empowered employment in which employees have pay and say. As part of this initiative, the EWC brings leaders together across economic sectors to inform and support the strategic direction of the work. The County's Chief Equity Officer was selected by staff at the San Francisco Foundation and other funders in the Rework the Bay collaborative to share a local government perspective into the collaborative's strategy development.
