RECOMMENDATION:

title

Measure K: Approve an Appropriation Transfer Request (ATR) transferring Measure K funding from Non-Departmental Services in the amount of $600,000 to the District Attorney’s Office for the Gun Violence Prevention program.

body

BACKGROUND:

The San Mateo County Gun Violence Prevention Program is a collaborative effort of law enforcement, the San Mateo County Superior Court, and the District Attorney’s Office to more effectively enforce unlawful firearm possession laws, in the interest of promoting safety and reducing gun violence in the County.

DISCUSSION:

The District Attorney’s Office is the lead for the County in this initiative.  Measure K funding will support the salaries and benefits of the law enforcement staff and equipment necessary for the program. Measure K funding for this initiative is already included in the Non-Departmental Services FY 2022-23 Adopted Budget. Approval of this ATR will move the funding from Non-Departmental Services to the District Attorney’s Office to manage the program.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Adequate funding is included in the Fiscal Year 2022-23 Adopted Budget. There is no fiscal impact associated with the ATR.
