BACKGROUND:
The San Mateo County Public Health STD/HIV Program (STD/HIV Program) provides a continuum of services, which include outpatient ambulatory/medical care services, psychosocial care services, housing-related services, substance abuse services, food, education, prevention and surveillance services, and is the main provider of HIV/AIDS services for San Mateo County residents affected by HIV/AIDS and their families. The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) provides partial funding for outpatient/ ambulatory medical care, medical transportation, and outreach services.

On September 17, 2019, your Board approved an agreement with CDPH for $1,594,678 funding to provide these services.

DISCUSSION:
On February 4, 2022, CDPH authorized an increase in funding to the County in the amount of $294,752 due to an increased availability in grant funding. The increase in funding will be utilized to cover expenses for 0.25 full-time equivalent (FTE) physician, 0.67 FTE staff nurse, 0.59 FTE of a patient services assistant, medical transportation for clients of the program, and miscellaneous client service costs.

The resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County's fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).
