BACKGROUND:
The Team of the Month program was established in September 2018 to recognize and honor County teams who consistently demonstrate an outstanding level of performance.

Our Team of the Month for November 2022 is the Household Hazardous Waste Program in the Environmental Health Division of County Health.

Team members include: Liliana Mejia, Elizabeth Rouan, Charles Gleaves, Robert Douglas, Curtis Jamison, Lex Mendieta, Alyssa Terwilliger, Mike Allred, Sam Bajza, Harshal Lal, Emilie Dirck, Cynthia Knowles, Kilala Barnes, Valisa Campbell, Gerson Damaso, Kristen Gardner, Lawrence Gardner, Marietta Gardner, Christina Malley, Christine Navratil, Mark Navratil, Paul Niebuhr, Tim Popp, and Mike Soda.

DISCUSSION:
The County Environmental Health's Household Hazardous Waste Program has been providing hazardous waste disposal to residents for over 30 years. The Program's ongoing mission is to make it as easy as possible to not throw household chemicals in the trash. Staff are always looking for ways to attract residents to their events and remove barriers to disposing chemicals as they arise.

The office team helps residents with appointments while the field team keeps the long line of cars with their trunks filled with unwanted household chemicals moving smoothly. Team members carefully remove items, sort, and pack the chemicals in nearby staging areas for transport. The Team also provides education, answers questions from residents, and does everything they can to encourage reuse of this free service.
