BACKGROUND:
The Commission is charged with the responsibility of assessing the needs of women, girls and families in the County. It acts as a resource and makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors annually.

DISCUSSION:
Sue Datta, Ellen Tafeen, and Ann Girard have served on the commission since their partial terms began in August 2019 and are each being recommended to serve their first full terms on the commission. Susan Kokores began serving with a partial term on the commission in 2020 and is being recommended for her first full term upon approval of this reappointment.

Sue Datta has over 23 years of experience in technology and e-commerce and is currently the Director for Technology and Cyber security for Gap, Inc. She brings extensive volunteer experience working with Girl Geeks and helping survivors of domestic violence.

Born and raised in the Boroughs of New York City to immigrant parents (refugees from the Holocaust), Ellen Tafeen has great interest in helping others achieve a better quality of life. In helping to assist Seniors in our communities, she is active in local AARP activities: Driver Safety Instructor, National Board Member of the Safety Driver Tech Program and Tax-Aide Preparer. In addition to being appointed as a commissioner to the Commission on the Status of the Women, she has served on San Mateo County's Civil Grand Jury.
