BACKGROUND:
The Department of Public Works (Department) is responsible for contracting with an elevator maintenance service provider to maintain 56 elevators and two escalators throughout the County.
On June 6, 2017, this Board adopted Resolution No. 075248, authorizing an agreement with Gannett Fleming Inc., dba Vertical Transportation Excellence (VTX) to provide elevator consultant services at various County facilities.
On September 15, 2020, this Board adopted Resolution No. 077722, authorizing Amendment No. One, which increased the amount by $200,000 for a new not to exceed amount of $500,000, and extended the contract term to June 30, 2021.
On September 10, 2021, the Director of Public Works executed Amendment No. Two, extending the contract term to June 30, 2026.
DISCUSSION:
VTX recently completed the plans and specifications for the retrofit of two elevators in the Hall of Justice, which are being prepared for bid, and continues to provide consulting services overseeing the Department's maintenance contract with Otis Elevator.
Amendment no. three will increase the agreement amount by $500,000, for a new not to exceed amount of $1,000,000, with no change in the term. This will allow VTX to continue working on Countywide Elevator Improvement Projects and provide consulting services and oversight for the on-going maintenance contract.
