BACKGROUND:

The Project Development Unit (PDU) oversees multiple complex County capital projects.  Among those projects is the San Mateo County Medical Center Campus Renovation project which requires substantial support from specialized and certified Classification Level 1 and 3 Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI) Inspectors. CMI has been providing Inspection of Record services on the Medical Center Project since 2018.

DISCUSSION:

As the current Inspector of Record to the Medical Center Project, CMI has ensured that HCAI code compliance, quality of construction workmanship, fire life safety, and other essential building code requirements have been properly implemented by Truebeck Construction. Based on past and present positive performance, and to ensure continuity of the HCAI approved Inspector of Record, staff recommends the County continue to work with CMI through project completion.

By authorizing amendments to the CMI Agreement, the contract term may be extended through December 31, 2024, and the contract value increased as appropriate by no more than $350,000 for a revised maximum fiscal obligation amount of $950,000.

County Procurement has reviewed and approved the extension of this Agreement.

County Attorney has approved the resolution as to form.

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no impact to the general fund as sufficient appropriations are included in the budgets for the projects to which the inspector is or will be assigned. There is no impact to the General Fund.
