RECOMMENDATION:
title
Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to the agreement with Kenton Fong, MD extending the term of the agreement by one month through November 30, 2022 and increasing the amount payable under the agreement by $100,000 to an amount not to exceed $775,000.

BACKGROUND:
Specialty plastic surgery services are provided under the general direction of the Chief Medical Officer and the Medical Director of Specialty Services at San Mateo Medical Center (SMMC). Such care includes professional plastic surgery services, specifically in the area of non-cosmetic post traumatic, post-cancer, and hand-reconstructive care.

In September 2020, the County and Dr. Fong entered into an agreement for plastic surgery services for the term of September 15, 2020, through September 30, 2022, in an amount not to exceed $650,000.

In August 2022, the parties amended the agreement to increase the contract amount by $25,000 to an amount not to exceed $675,000 and extend the agreement by one month through October 31, 2022.

DISCUSSION:
Under this amendment, Dr. Fong has agreed to continue to provide plastic surgery services for one additional month, to allow for additional time to negotiate a new agreement.

County Administrative Memorandum B-1 provides that contracts for physicians are exempt from the Request for Proposals process.

The agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney as to form.

The resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).

It is anticipated that Dr. Fong will arrive on time...
