BACKGROUND:
In 2018, Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) identified that there was a need to fill a service gap for severely mentally ill youth, adolescent, and adult clients who are diagnosed with moderate to severe eating disorders, as defined in the DSM-5, who require a more specialized and intensive level of treatment. At the time, no BHRS clinic or program effectively addressed the comprehensive behavioral, dietary, and medical needs associated with moderate to severe eating disorders. BHRS reached out to several local providers and Discovery Practice Management dba Center for Discovery (CFD) was one of two providers that met the requirements to provide comprehensive and specialized treatment for clients diagnosed with eating disorders such as: anorexia, bulimia, binge eating disorder, and eating disorders not otherwise specified.
In July 2018, BHRS conducted an open and fair process to select a provider for residential treatment services through obtaining three quotes. CFD submitted a quote and BHRS entered into an agreement with CFD. CFD has been providing these services to the County since 2018.
