BACKGROUND:
San Mateo County is responsible for providing necessary medical care to its medically indigent population. This includes services for oncology disorders and the management and supervision of those services. The County's need for these services is increasing due to the aging of its patient population.
In September 2020, MedOnc. Inc and the County entered into an agreement for professional oncology/hematology services for the term of September 1, 2020, through August 31, 2022, in an amount not to exceed 1,200,000.
DISCUSSION:
Under this amendment, MedOnc, Inc. has agreed to continue providing oncology/hematology services for one more month to allow additional time to negotiate a new agreement.
County Administrative Memorandum B-1 provides that contracts for physicians are exempt from the Request for Proposals process.
The agreement and resolution have been reviewed and approved by the County Attorney as to form.
The resolution contains the County's standard provisions allowing amendment of the County's fiscal obligations by a maximum of $25,000 (in aggregate).
