BACKGROUND:
The City/County Association of Governments (C/CAG) is the Congestion Management Agency for the County of San Mateo and administers federal funding available through the Metropolitan Transportation Commission (MTC). C/CAG informed the Department of Public Works (Department) that the County was eligible to apply for federal funding pursuant to MTC's Safe & Seamless Mobility Quick-Strike Program (Program) in the amount of approximately $1,603,000. The Program supports design and construction costs for projects that include pedestrian/bicycle safety, safe routes to school elements, or provide safe and seamless mobility and can be quickly implemented.

The Program is a one-time, competitive grant program within the One Bay Area Grant program (OBAG 2) framework. Federal funding is available to support local and regional projects that can be implemented quickly to benefit communities responding and adapting to the COVID-19 environment.
