BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:

The County has conducted an extensive recruitment for the position of Director of Public Works.  Ann Stillman has been nominated by the County Executive as the best candidate for this position based on her technical, operational, and executive leadership experience. 

 

Ms. Stillman has been with the County’s Public Works Department since 1987.  She has held various technical and senior leadership roles in the areas of engineering, resource protection, utilities, and flood control. Since 2021, Ms. Stillman has served as Interim Director of Public Works.  

 

Ms. Stillman is a registered civil engineer and holds a Bachelor of Science in environmental engineering. Ms. Stillman’s knowledge, leadership abilities, collaborative approach and her commitment to service will be greatly beneficial to the County and community.  

 

The Charter requires the Board of Supervisors to confirm appointments of department heads nominated by the County Executive. 

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

Ms. Stillman will start at the Director of Public Works Step B level.  The compensation and benefits for this position are set forth in the County’s Resolution establishing the salary and benefits for the unrepresented Management Employees of the County and the Master Salary Resolution approved by this Board.
