BACKGROUND:
The Cordilleras Health Campus Project includes replacement of the existing Cordilleras Mental Health Center building, which is over 60 years old and has outlived its useful life. The building was originally constructed as a tuberculosis hospital and requires replacement to meet modern standards. The project includes demolition of existing facilities and replacement with five new buildings that will allow for residential treatment in a smaller and less institutional setting.

DISCUSSION:
Cordilleras Mental Health Center is home to two distinct Telecare Programs. Cordilleras Mental Health and Cordilleras Suites, where intensive mental health services are provided in a safe, welcoming, structured, and secure environment designed to help clients prepare to move to the community and/or lower levels of care. The Behavior Health and Recovery Services group requested the project team add additional site amenities to the Cordilleras project, including but not limited to a seating hut, pottery kiln, sports court, community garden, art pavilion, and a walking labyrinth path.
