title
Adopt a resolution authorizing an amendment to the agreement with Vance Brown, Inc., for construction services to be provided at 330 Bradford Street, in Redwood City, California, to increase the maximum amount payable thereunder by $4,974,816, to an amount not to exceed $29,974,816.

BACKGROUND:
In March 2021, this Board approved the Sheriff's Headquarters Center Project. The project includes renovation of the Old Maguire Jail, originally built in 1988, and construction of a new fifth floor to convert the entire facility into a Sheriff Headquarters, which will house nearly all of the Sheriff Office's administrative staff (Project).

DISCUSSION:
This amendment is to the agreement between the County of San Mateo and Vance Brown, Inc., which the parties entered pursuant to Resolution No. 078637, which the Board of Supervisors adopted on December 14, 2021.

The agreement provided that the County would pay a Contract Base Fee of $25,000,000 for the work to be performed by Contractor on the Project, as those terms are defined in the agreement. The agreement also provides that the County shall be responsible to pay for the cost of all Project work that is not covered by the Contract Base Fee, including all matters described in the List of Exclusions at Appendix 3 of the agreement.

The amendment is to ensure that there are funds available to pay for matters that are excluded from the scope of services under the agreement and to provide for a project contingency for items on the List of Exclusions in Appendix 3 of the agreement. The amendment increases authorization for payments to the Contractor under this agreement.

The resolution and agreement with Vance Brown, Inc. have been reviewed and approved as to form by the County Attorney.
