Recommendation for the appointment of Manuel Santamaria, representing Public Senior/Minority Community Member to the San Mateo Health Commission, for an initial partial term ending January 1, 2023.

BACKGROUND:

The San Mateo Health Commission negotiates exclusive contracts with the California Department of Health Care Services to arrange for the provision of health care services to qualifying individuals.

 

DISCUSSION:

Manuel Santamaria is being recommended to serve an initial partial term ending January 1, 2023 as Public Senior/Minority member; a seat formerly held by Teresa Guingona Ferrer. Manuel is currently the Vice President of Community Action for the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. He has an extensive background and experience with organizations such as the Redwood City Healthy Start Family Resource Center Network, the Peninsula Partnership for Children, Youth and Families, and the Peninsula Community Foundation. He has been active on the Boards of various local agencies, such as the Peninsula YMCA, the International Institute of the Bay Area, First 5 of San Mateo County, Mission Asset Fund, Children’s Health Initiative and the Asset Funders Network. Manuel Santamaria would bring a wealth of knowledge relevant to the work of the San Mateo Health Commission.
