RECOMMENDATION:

title

Adopt a resolution authorizing a third amendment to the agreement with Crime Scene Cleaners Inc. to increase the contract by $20,000, to an amount not to exceed $218,899.

body

BACKGROUND:

In 2019, the Sheriff’s Office entered into an agreement with Crime Scene Cleaners for the provision of decontamination services to limit the spread of COVID-19. Services include cleaning and disinfecting the correctional facilities, employee workstations, and blood drying cabinets in the Sheriff’s Office property and evidence room. In 2020, the contract was amended to extend the term of the agreement as the pandemic was still present resulting in a continued need for decontamination services. In 2021, the contract was again amended to increase the contract amount.

DISCUSSION:

Crime Scene Cleaners Inc. has performed well and provided unique solutions to cleaning and decontamination that has helped limit the spread of the COVID-19 virus between members of the Sheriff’s Office, other County employees and visitors to the Sheriff’s Office.  They have been responsive to the needs of the Sheriff’ Office at all hours and on every day of the year.

To limit the spread of COVID-19, the Sheriff’s Office has increased the use of Crime Scene Cleaners services, primarily to decontaminate its correctional facilities and workspaces in various Sheriff’s Office Bureaus, thereby resulting in the need to increase the amount authorized to be expended under this agreement.

The resolution and agreement have been reviewed and approved as to form by the County Attorney.

FISCAL IMPACT:

This amendment will increase the amount authorized to be expended under this agreement by $20,000, to an amount not to exceed $218,899.  Funding for this amendment is included in the Sheriff’s Office FY 2021-22 budget.
