BACKGROUND:

The Emergency Medical Care Committee (EMCC) is responsible for reviewing and reporting its observations and recommendations to the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors and local Emergency Medical Services Agency (EMS Agency) regarding the emergency medical services system. The Committee monitors and presents recommendations to improve emergency medical care in San Mateo County.

 

The EMCC consists of 20 members appointed by the Board, for terms of four years, for up to three consecutive terms. Among EMCC’s 20 members, it must have, among other requirements: two (2) local Fire Service representatives; and one (1) emergency Physician in a San Mateo County receiving hospital.

 

DISCUSSION:

Veena Vangari is a Chief Nurse with the VA Palo Alto Healthcare System, bringing professional experience and insight to the Emergency Medical Care Committee. A Menlo Park resident, she has valuable knowledge of the immigrant community and will be helpful in broadening the input and concerns of a diverse population.

 

Jenel Lim has extensive experience in communicating with the public on health issues. She has a Master of Public Health degree. She worked as a Covid-19 Contact Tracer for San Mateo County. A San Mateo resident, she brings strong skills in gaining public awareness and input for health issues.

 

Robert Nice is a retired San Jose fire service captain who lives in Redwood City. He has been involved in the fire and EMS service for 40 years and brings a wealth of insight and experience to the Emergency Medical Care Committee.
