Recommendation for the appointment of Monika Lee to the Housing and Community Development Committee, representing the Commission on Aging, for an initial partial term ending December 31, 2023.

BACKGROUND:

The Housing and Community Development Committee (HCDC) makes recommendations to the Board of Supervisors related to the expenditure of all housing and community development funds.  The HCDC also reviews and provides a forum for public comment on affordable housing and community development needs and priorities related to the development of the Consolidated Plan and related Annual Action Plans.

 

DISCUSSION:

Upon the recommendation of the Commission on Aging, Monika Lee is being recommended to serve an initial partial term for a seat vacated by Joan Kilroe, who has resigned. Upon approval, Monika will serve for a partial term ending December 31, 2023.

 

Commissioner Lee has a J.D. and Ph.D. in Economics and has been a practicing attorney since 1984.  She is currently employed at Lee Law Offices in San Mateo.  Before attending law school, she was an instructor of Economics at the University of Kansas.  She currently serves as CoA’s First Vice Chair and Chair of the Resource Access Committee.  She also serves on the City of San Mateo Senior Citizen’s Commission, and as a board member on Ombudsman Services of San Mateo County.
