BACKGROUND:
In October 2021, the County entered into an agreement for security services with Execushield, Inc. The agreement between the County and Execushield, Inc. called for security services to be provided at the Hall of Justice in Redwood City, the San Mateo County Northern Courthouse in South San Francisco, and the San Mateo County Youth Services Center in San Mateo.

DISCUSSION:
In November of 2021, the San Mateo County Superior Court notified the Sheriff's Office of its decision to reopen the San Mateo County Central Courthouse in San Mateo, which previously closed its doors in 2012. The Courts communicated the necessity to open the Central Courthouse, due to lack of available departments for their judicial officers both at the Hall of Justice in Redwood City and the Northern Courthouse in South San Francisco. The anticipated reopening date is April 11, 2022.

The decision to reopen the Central Courthouse necessitated an amendment to the agreement between the County and Execushield. The amendment updates Exhibit B, Payments and Rates, to the agreement to reflect the increased services and associated costs. Security services to be performed by Execushield, Inc. at the San Mateo County Central Courthouse will be consistent with the services performed at the Hall of Justice in Redwood City, the Northern Courthouse in South San Francisco, and the Youth Services Center in San Mateo.
