Adopt a resolution authorizing the Chief Elections Officer, or his designee, to enter into an agreement for and receive, on behalf of the County, state funds provided for the implementation of the Voter’s Choice Act (VCA), in an amount not to exceed $144,000.

BACKGROUND:

The County has qualified for a grant from the California Secretary of State reimbursing the San Mateo County Registration & Elections Division for one or more of the following purposes, as related to the implementation of the Voter’s Choice Act, and further defined in the agreement:

 

                     Development of informational materials

                     Federal and state mandated translations

                     Language assistance services

                     Educational website development

                     Public advertisement of election information

                     Mailings related to the VCA

                     Development of accessible informational materials

                     Contracting services for VCA-related education and outreach

 

A copy of the grant agreement, which uses the State of California - Department of General Services Standard Agreement form, is attached as Exhibit “A” to this memorandum and incorporated by this reference. The reimbursements provided under this agreement shall not exceed $144,000.

 

DISCUSSION:

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the resolution as to form.

 

FISCAL IMPACT:

There is no net County cost associated with accepting these state reimbursement funds.
