BACKGROUND:
Behavioral Health and Recovery Services (BHRS) has contracted with the Peninsula Conflict Resolution Center (PCRC) for alcohol and other drug (AOD) prevention services since July 2008. These services include community capacity building, community education and awareness, and environmental prevention efforts in the City of San Mateo, Burlingame, Hillsborough, Foster City, and Belmont regions.

DISCUSSION:
Through this agreement PCRC will continue to be the lead and fiscal agency for the community-based partnership by: 1) providing AOD-related prevention services in Central San Mateo County; 2) collaborating through the partnership to increase community capacity to implement AOD prevention strategies; and 3) continuing to reduce access to and availability of AODs to youth.

In addition, PCRC shall: 1) facilitate community-led Parent Project classes where parents learn skills and receive information about resources and other support available in their communities; 2) designate one staff member as co-chair of the Pacific Islander Initiative to assist and coordinate Pacific Islander efforts and participate in BHRS' cultural competence efforts; and 3) provide Mental Health First Aid tr...
