BACKGROUND:

The Law Library was created to provide access to legal materials to all persons interested in the law. The Board is made up of seven members. Five members are appointed by the Superior Court and the Board of Supervisors appoints two members.

 

DISCUSSION:

Carole Groom was elected to the Board of Supervisors in June 2010, served as President of the Board in 2011, 2015, and 2019. Prior to Supervisor Groom’s appointment in 2009, she served nine years on the San Mateo City Council, including two terms as Mayor. She currently serves on many local, regional, and state boards including the California Coastal Commission, the Bay Area Air Quality Management District, the Peninsula Clean Energy Board, SamTrans Board and the Big Lift third grade reading initiative, among others.

 

Jacquelyn Brown is Managing Attorney of Brown Family Law Group. She is licensed by the State Bar of California, a certified mediator, and an arbitrator. Jacquelyn is extensively involved in the legal community, and relentlessly pursues accessibility to justice and legal representation for all. As a result, she has been selected for many honors and opportunities, including Director of the San Mateo County Bar Association (SMCBA) Board of Directors, recipient of the 2017 SMCBA Barrister’s Award for outstanding service to the legal community, the legal profession, and the public, as well as serving as the Chief Arbitrator on the SMCBA Fee Arbitration Panel since 2006, and, as a member of the Lawyer Referral Service Panel since 2009.
