Recommendation for reappointments to the San Mateo Health Commission, each for a term ending January 1, 2026:

 

A)                     Jeanette Aviles, M.D., representing San Mateo County Hospital Physician, for a third term; and

 

B)                     Kenneth Tai, M.D., representing Physician for a second term.

BACKGROUND:

The San Mateo Health Commission negotiates exclusive contracts with the California Department of Health Care Services to arrange for the provision of health care services to qualifying individuals.

 

DISCUSSION:

Dr. Jeanette Aviles began serving a partial term in 2010 and is requesting reappointment for a third and final term. Dr. Kenneth Tai has served on the Commission since 2018 and will be serving for a second term upon approval of this reappointment.

 

Dr. Jeanette Aviles is presently the Medial Director of Primary Care Services at the San Mateo Medical Center providing care for beneficiaries of the San Mateo Health Commission.  She serves the community well on the San Mateo Health Commission as the “representative of San Mateo County Medical Center Physicians” having knowledge and experience with the issues and processes faced by members and physicians.

 

Dr. Kenneth Tai has worked for North East Medical Services since 2005 and has served as the Chief Health Officer since 2019.  Dr. Tai held the position as Chief Medical Officer from 2015 to 2019; and Medical Director from 2009 to 2014 overseeing 12 clinics with various departments.  He continues to give back to the community by also serving on the Quality Improvement Committee for the San Mateo Health Commission.

 

Dr. Aviles and Dr. Tai’s current terms on the Commission end on January 1, 2022.
