BACKGROUND:

Section 22507 et al. of the California Vehicle Code provides that local authorities may by ordinance or resolution prohibit or restrict the stopping, parking, or standing of vehicles, during all or certain hours of the day. Section 7.24.010 of the County of San Mateo Ordinance Code includes time-limited parking zones of 20-Minute, 30-Minute, 1-hour, and 2-hour duration.

DISCUSSION:

The Department of Public Works (Department) received a request from the Broadmoor Police Department to add a four (4) hour time-limited parking zone to the County’s Ordinance Code.

The Department has reviewed and considered the request and has determined that amending Section 7.24.010 to include a 4-Hour Time-Limited Parking zone would be beneficial to the Department and County property owners and businesses. The amendment to the Ordinance would allow time-limited parking zones of 20-Minute, 30-Mminute, 1-Hour, 2-Hour, or 4-Hour to be designated.

County Counsel has reviewed and approved the amended ordinance as to form.

FISCAL IMPACT:

Approval of this amendment has no fiscal impact.
